Bitter Clarence Thomas
Conservatives attack Democracy when they don't get what they want. This is a far cry from the beginnings of the Republican Party as an anti slavery party. Justice Clarence Thomas' recent rant, at the University of Texas of all places, solidifies that what makes someone conservative in America in 2026, is a desire to control the destiny of their neighbors. Dissent has been weeded out on the right. The proof of this is in front of our eyes every night on the news.
But instead of just ignoring murder on the high seas, the dysfunction of hunting the world over for weapons of mass destruction that never existed, or using the Old Testament to turn away from United Nations weapons inspectors, Clarence Thomas decided to go to war with progressives since, you know, God and not the Constitution, or the Magna Carta, are all anyone needs to protect their rights.
Clarence Thomas could not be further off. His delusion is his party's delusion however. As dumb as his statements are, he is articulate. And given who his wife is, they may be the true leaders of the Republican Party. And these people think they own Jesus. The two of them are completely ignorant to the fact that the Progressive Era, and therefore progressives, are rooted in the New Testament. It is an abject failure to claim the moral high ground when you obviously don't know anything. But it makes it much worse when you, as a Black American, condemn people for fighting racism and feeding the poor.
This is where the Republicans are in 2026. The hand picked judges sound like fascists while every single other judge wants to hold the administration in contempt of court. The President sells Bibles, recites Bible verses, but can't live by it. His hellbound Secretary of Defense is a drunken philanderer with racist tattoos who thinks Pulp Fiction is the Bible. The two of them have injected so much needless pain to a region full of allies, they have changed history. And Congress has allowed it all while out on vacation.
This Trump led party is going for an epic Hail Mary into a totalitarian endzone. We literally have a tyrant with a party behind him willing to extinguish Democracy while telling you that Jesus blesses the entire operation. As long as voters can make it past ICE, the National Guard and the Navy Seals, sure to be stationed at every poll, this will all end at the midterms. But we have to remember that one of the leaders of the right, Clarence Thomas, a Supreme Court judge, stood up in Austin, Texas (of all places) and tried to tell the world that the great mistake of liberals was their belief in America along with their belief in God. His is an attempt to excuse ICE prisons on every corner. Clarence Thomas and his ragtag gaggle of deplorable people have way more to worry about than people who do charitable works. We could soon see international law being explained to a whole lot of republicans in person at the Hague World Court.
But the bitterness of Clarence Thomas should be a focus for Democrats in the midterms. A consummate insider from Yale attacking Roosevelt for building, not rebuilding the country's infrastructure, at a time when his party replaced the infrastructure rebuilding budget with illegal war at home and abroad is almost hilarious. This man, his party, they are practiced in misinformation, like the Russians they coddle. The Republicans have enriched the Russians and the Iranians while spending all the money. They have turned back intelligent energy projects while turning Elon Musk loose to turn on methane turbines to power his tech. No one can seriously vote for this stuff.
